Rucking Calculator

Privacy Policy

How Rucking Calculator handles local records, sharing, advertising, and privacy choices.

Effective date: October 15, 2026

Rucking Calculator estimates the calories used during a ruck. Your calculation inputs, saved rucks, notes, and preferences are processed on your device. We do not operate an account system or upload that information to a sbytex server. Advertising and consent services do process technical information, as explained below.

1. Who is responsible

Rucking Calculator is provided by Carlos Simon Göhring, operating under the brand sbytex ("we", "us"):

Schwaighofen 2A
82549 Königsdorf
Germany

For privacy questions or requests, email sbytex@myyahoo.com.

This policy covers the Rucking Calculator iOS and Android apps. Visits to our website are covered separately by the sbytex website privacy policy.

2. Calculations, history, and preferences

The app processes the information you enter to calculate and display estimates:

  • Body weight, carried load, and whether you use a backpack or weighted vest.
  • Distance, moving time, outdoor or treadmill selection, hills or incline, elevation gain when entered, and surface type.
  • Estimated active and total calories, calories added by the load, pace, and related calculation details.

Saving a ruck stores its inputs and results, activity date and time, save time, optional notes, a local record identifier, and the calculation-method version on your device. History is saved when you choose to save a result. Units, appearance, and valid calculator defaults are saved automatically when changed.

We do not receive these records or include their contents in advertising requests. Weight, activity information, and notes can reveal personal or health information, so consider what you include when sharing them.

The app does not access your GPS location, track your route, or connect to Apple Health or Health Connect. Choosing "Outdoor" does not enable location tracking. There is no sbytex cloud synchronization service and no separate app-usage analytics or crash-reporting service installed by us. Google's advertising SDK has its own measurement and diagnostic processing described below.

3. Sharing and exporting

Sharing a result opens your device's sharing options with an image or text of that result. Exporting history creates a CSV file containing saved inputs, results, dates, calculation details, and notes, including body weight and load.

These actions happen at your request. The app does not automatically send the files to us. The app or recipient you select may store or forward a copy under its own privacy practices. Deleting a ruck here does not delete copies you have shared elsewhere.

4. Advertising and consent

The app uses Google AdMob for banner advertisements and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain and manage privacy choices. It requests non-personalized advertisements. It does not request interstitial or app-open ads.

When these services run, Google and participating advertising providers may process:

  • IP address, which can be used to infer an approximate location.
  • Device and app information, and identifiers such as an Android advertising identifier or other app/device identifiers, where available and permitted.
  • Ad views and interactions, app/SDK interactions, and diagnostic information such as crashes and performance.
  • Consent status, privacy choices, and technical information needed to determine which privacy message applies and remember your choices.

This supports ad delivery and measurement, service operation, and fraud and abuse prevention. Non-personalized does not mean anonymous or data-free: technical information and device storage may still be used. We do not provide your weight, ruck history, route inputs, or notes for advertising.

UMP contacts Google to check consent requirements and manage choices before advertisements are requested. Where required, a privacy message lets you consent, decline, or manage options. Ad requests begin only after the consent service returns a resolved status that permits them. Declining consent does not prevent you from calculating or saving rucks. Depending on your choices and Google's permitted serving modes, you may see limited advertisements or no advertisements.

When available for your region, open Settings → Privacy choices to review the providers and purposes, change consent, or use applicable opt-outs. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. If the privacy form cannot load, reconnect and try again, or contact us for assistance. Device settings may also let you reset or delete your advertising identifier.

The iOS app does not request App Tracking Transparency authorization and does not obtain permission to access IDFA. Other technical information can still be processed as described above.

Google explains its processing in its Privacy Policy and information about apps using Google services. The applicable consent form provides details about participating providers and their privacy policies. Following an advertisement opens content governed by the advertiser's own privacy practices.

5. Support and other recipients

If you contact us, we receive your email address, the name your email service provides, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond and resolve the issue. Our email service provider also processes the correspondence. You do not need to send your full history or body weight to ask a general support question.

The app stores, device backup providers, and websites you open from the app process information under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information we hold when legally required or when necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. We do not sell your saved rucks, measurements, or notes.

6. Legal grounds

Where the GDPR applies to personal data we process, our legal grounds are:

  • Providing a service you request (Article 6(1)(b)), including responding to support requests needed to provide that service.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for other support correspondence and protecting our legal rights. Our interests are resolving enquiries and protecting the service, subject to your rights and interests.
  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for advertising-related processing where consent is required. The privacy message identifies the relevant purposes and any providers relying on other grounds.
  • Legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)), such as handling privacy-rights requests or complying with mandatory record-retention requirements.

Device storage or access that requires consent under applicable law, including Section 25(1) of Germany's TDDDG, is subject to that consent. Storage strictly necessary for a service you expressly request, such as saving a ruck or remembering your requested settings, may fall under Section 25(2).

You are not legally required to supply calculation inputs, save history, write notes, or contact us. The calculator needs its required inputs to produce an estimate; we need sufficient information to answer a support request. We do not make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.

7. Retention and deletion

  • Saved rucks: remain on your device until you delete individual entries, use the History menu's Delete all action, or remove the app's local data. History is not automatically deleted after a fixed period.
  • Preferences and defaults: remain until changed or the app's local data is removed. Deleting history does not reset these settings.
  • Export and share files: temporary copies may remain in the app's cache until overwritten, removed by the operating system, or the app's local data is deleted. Deleting history does not necessarily clear those cached files.
  • Device backups: your operating system's backup or transfer services may include app data, depending on device settings. Uninstalling or deleting local data does not necessarily erase backups or shared copies. Manage these through the relevant device, backup, or recipient service.
  • Support correspondence: we retain it only as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any related obligations or claims, then delete it when no further lawful need remains.
  • Advertising and consent information: Google and other providers apply their own retention periods. See Google's retention information and the providers identified in the privacy form. Deleting local history does not delete information already processed by those providers.

We cannot remotely retrieve or delete history stored only on your device. You can export it from History and use the app's deletion controls yourself.

8. International processing and security

Google, advertising providers, and our email service may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers must rely on an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses. Google's current mechanisms and how to obtain information about them are described in its data-transfer information. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to information we handle.

Local records use the app's private storage and the protections supplied by your operating system. The app does not add a separate encryption layer or an app-specific password. Google's Mobile Ads SDK encrypts its network transmissions using TLS. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.

9. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of personal data, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. Contact us at sbytex@myyahoo.com to make a request. We may need information sufficient to verify and respond to it; please do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are needed.

You may complain to a data-protection authority, including the authority where you live or work. Our local authority is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).

In US states where applicable privacy laws provide these rights, you may also opt out of targeted advertising or disclosures classified as a "sale" or "sharing", and appeal a denied request by contacting us. Technical advertising disclosures can fall within those legal definitions even without payment for data. Use Settings → Privacy choices where available, or contact us for assistance. We do not deny the calculator's core features because you exercise privacy rights.

10. Intended audience

Rucking Calculator is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children or teenagers under 18. The app does not ask for your date of birth or verify your age. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and address it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The current version will show its effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before introducing processing that requires it.
